Prior to founding Gear Up in 2007 to advise small and middle market companies, David served as Vice President of Corporate and Business Development of Klip Communications, a wholesale provider of voice video and data services. He structured, negotiated and signed the industry’s first subscriber based wholesale long-haul transport agreement with a national IXC. David has served in management and consultant roles for several different private and public companies prior to joining Klip. During this time, he has managed over $725 million of M&A transactions, including $25 million of small private equity acquisitions and dispositions, and secured over $100 million in sale and lease back transactions, and was a key team member during the $6 billion restructuring of Williams Communications.
Prior to joining the technology industry in 2001, David earned his MBA from the University of Texas in Austin. While receiving his MBA, David won the Texas MBA Consulting Challenge and was selected to be a UT Venture Fellow. As a Venture Fellow, David worked with CCGVenture Partners to research investment opportunities and advise on strategy for existing portfolio companies. Prior to earning his MBA, David work as a manufacturing engineer for Ford Motor Company for more than five years after earning his mechanical engineering degree from Oklahoma State University.
David currently serves as the UT MBA Tulsa Chapter president and is a member ofthe Alumni Texas Admission Committee. He has been a past president of the board for Light Opera Oklahoma and an adjunct professor of finance at OSU-Tulsa. David has been happily married to his wife Carol for 12 years and has two daughters. He enjoys the outdoors and physical fitness. He is an active competitor in the XTERRA (Off-road Triathlon) point series races and has qualified for the National Championships the past two years.
